Nominate a gully for LDC attention

GOT an eroding gully problem?
If you’re in the Bowen, Broken, Bogie catchment, you’re probably in luck.
The Landholders Driving Change project team is keen to assess problem gullies in the BBB as part of its aim of reducing sediment in the water that flows into the Great Barrier Reef lagoon.
They’re particularly interested in features with an active erosion problem that are between 1ha and 5ha.
It’s as simple as giving one of the Bowen-based team a call (see Page 4 for contact details) to nominate an erosion feature for attention by the LDC project.
There’s no time to waste as the cut-off to nominate an area for assessment is 10 August.
The team will be assessing nominated sites during August, then, based on the amount of sediment that potentially could be prevented from entering the waterways, the sites will be prioritised.
Even if you’re not sure, give the team a ring and the Landscape Remediation working group will be able to assist in site selection which will become demonstration sites.
Should the site qualify, construction and implementation of the work would be covered 100 per cent by the project, requiring only the landholder’s time and imagination in return.
Work on selected sites will begin, and, in some cases, be completed this year.
